Could the three storey sofa become a living room realty?
This spectacular prototype, which offers seating for nine, claims to have been inspired by Wembley Stadium, and features built-in smartphone chargers and beer-resistant upholstery.
The triple tier sofa was actually created by telecoms and Pay TV provider EE, to mark the launch of its new BT Sport offer, which allow customers to cast BT Sport matches from their smartphone to their TV. But we think it’s got legs.
It was developed after a survey of 2,000 sports viewers found 51 per cent would prefer to watch sports with friends in someone’s home rather than venturing out to the pub.
Six in 10 of those surveyed enjoy playing host to friends and family to watch sporting events at home. Pizza, chips and dip, and peanuts were named the best choices to serve up to guests.
The three-tiered sofa prototype was trialled by BT Sport analyst and co-commentator and former England, Liverpool and Real Madrid midfielder, Steve McManaman.
“This multi-tiered sofa would be an amazing addition to mine or any sports fans’ sitting room,” he says. “When I’m not in the BT Sport studio and have people around to watch a game, I make sure the sport is on the big TV, the snacks are out.”
Adds Max Taylor, Managing Director of Marketing at EE: “Now that our customers can watch the games on the big screen, we wanted to see what the ultimate at home casting experience looked like, so we developed this Wembley stadium inspired sofa design – the perfect living room accessory to share our new BT Sport offer with your mates.”
The first three months access to the app and casting ability is free for all EE Pay Monthly customers, after which customers will pay just £5 a month for access to the app and £10 a month to be able to cast it to the TV.
